6+1 daily habits to make your mornings easier

Yes, even Mondays! Business Insider has compiled a great list of daily routines that can make our mornings easier, therefore making your whole day ahead more productive and successful. You wouldn’t believe how easy it is to make your mornings friendlier, therefore making your days more productive. Follow these tips to get out of bed easier and rested, especially on those Mondays…

1 Place your alarm across the room

This one might sound like a real torture for the next morning, but it works! If you are like most people, your phone or alarm clock sleeps just right next to you, which is the number one reason of hitting “snooze” when you need “just five more minutes”. Save the hassle and make yourself get out of bed for the first time your alarm goes off. By physically getting out of bed, chances of falling back asleep are reduced dramatically, meaning more time for your morning agony with a cup of coffee, yay!

2 Limit your caffeine intake in the late hours

Drinking coffee during late afternoon or in the evening can disrupt sleep even when consumed six hours before bedtime, researchers found in one study. A recipe for a good night’s sleep starts with not consuming any caffeinated products starting from late afternoon, this way your body can prepare for night time.

3 Have something to look forward to

Being excited about something in the morning makes it a million times easier to get out of bed in the mornings. Have something to look forward to depending on your personal needs; plan a morning exercise, take time to read your favourite book, newspaper or watch an episode of your favourite series. The motive is really up to you, but not having one always makes sleeping in a better option. Don’t make too exciting plans, either, as it can make falling asleep during the night harder.

4 Set a bedtime alarm

If you can, of course. To wake up earlier you need to set standards of your bedtime as well. Set an alarm in the evening when you need to start preparing yourself for the night. This will serve as a reminder and can keep you on track to a necessary amount of sleep you personally need to wake up relaxed.

5 Start an enjoyable evening routine

Some people like to run, some might want to read a book or listen to some music to relax and unwind. By allocating time to an evening routine of your choice, you have something to look forward to in the evening, and consider that activity as the closing of the day.

6 Get you coffee maker ready

Not having to deal with the routine tasks of refilling the coffee maker every morning saves us energy and time in the morning. If you have an automatic coffee maker, you can even make sure to set a timer to your machine so that the aroma of the freshly made coffee fills the house.

7 Cut screen time at night

As humans are sensitive to artificial lights, it is better to stay away from the brightly lit environments for three to four hours before bedtime. Research suggests that staring at blue and white digital screen lights, prevents your brain from releasing the hormone “melatonin”, which lets your body know when it’s time to go to sleep.

Get ready to meet a new, more productive you once you implement some of these daily routines that help you to sleep better during the night, and prepare for the day more efficiently in the mornings.
